It was recently announced that the future of the Bele Chere Festival itself is up in the air since the city of Asheville may no longer fund the production of the event, so this may very well be the final Bele Chere and the final Bele Chere 5k.
The race is legendary and with 33 years of history it is the longest running 5k in Asheville. Don’t miss the opportunity to participate in this historic event, whether you’ve run the race twenty times in the past or if it’s something you’ve always had on your “to do” list.
So even if this isn’t the last dance and the last chance, do you want to run the risk of not being able to say, “Oh, yeah, I ran the final Bele Chere 5k. Didn’t you?” Or, better yet, “Oh yeah, I ran it when we thought it was the last Bele Chere 5k back in 2013. Didn’t you?” Regardless, you don’t want to be one of the people that receives the “Didn’t you?”
TENTATIVE COURSE MAP
Some slight course modifications will be made but it will be principally the same course as 2012. Got hills?
