A nice twist on ‘super’ for Super Bowl weekend.
FROM THE RACE ORGANIZERS
Held to benefit the His Daily Bread Community Soup Kitchen in Coats, this event promises a bowl of soup to all finishers. In its first year in 2014, over 240 runners and walkers signed up for this event. Brian Fowler led the pack in the 5K with a 16:59 effort. Jen Bart led the women in 22:53. Since this was the first year this event was held, both performances are course records.
The race starts and finishes at the Coats United Methodist Church located at 288 East South Street in Coats.
Entrants in the 5K have a choice of entering as a competitive or recreational runner. Competitive entrants will receive an official time and be eligible for awards. Recreational entrants will not receive official times, but can either time themselves or see their times on the digital clock at the finish line.
Awards will be presented to the first three males overall, to the first three females overall, and to the top three finishers in each of the following age groups: (both genders) 12-under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-over.
The race starts at 2 PM. The ½-Mile Kids Dash is free and will begin at 3 PM.
